Dr Marcus Bussey is Lecturer in World History/Sustainable Futures and also Research Fellow in Regional Futures with the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Sustainability Research Centre. He is an active research member of the Sustainability Research Centre wher he is working on social learning and consciousness change. Marcus is particularly interested in the history futures interface and has lead research in this area such as found in the report: Societal responses to Significant Change

He has taught widely throughout Australia having spent 5 years at a yoga based neohumanist school run by Ananda Marga, 4 years in an urban community school run by a parent cooperative, 7 years in Montessori primary and high schools, and 8 years at the University of the Sunshine. He has presented papers on futures thinking, education, social change, personal transformation and community engagement in Taiwan, Sweden, Serbia, Israel, India, Finland, Denmark and the US. In 2003 he completed a pilot study for the Queensland Department of Families as part of their project Queensland 2020: a State for All Ages. This included a stimulus paper and 20 minute video, both entitled: Youth Voices: Young Queenslander's Values in a Time of Structural Ageing; see: Youth Voices.

He is also an accomplished musician with 4 CD's to his credit and he uses the Suzuki method to teach classical guitar (see www.guitariacs.com). Marcus has authored over 50 articles, book chapters and an encyclopaedia entry, co-authored Futures Thinking for Social Foresight (2005) with Richard Slaughter, co-edited Neohumanist Educational Futures: Liberating the Pedagogical Intellect (2006) with Sohail Inayatullah and Ivana Milojevic, co-edited Fire in their Eyes, Flowers in their Heart: Tantric Women Tell their Stories (2007) with Jennifer Jayanti Fitzgerald,  and co-edited  Alternative Educational Futures: Pedagogies for Emergent Worlds (2008) again with Sohail Inayatullah and Ivana Milojevic. His first book of spiritual verse entitled Clare and Francis:Converstaions of Divine Love will appear by mid 2012 and is to be published through www.bluedolphinpublishing.com. He is an associate of the Prout Institute of Australia (www.pia.org.au) where he teaches courses in Tantra, Spirituality and Social Change, and Education for Liberation.
